Dedication {Weigh in Wednesday}

So, I've got a confession.

I've never really hardcore committed to anything in my life.

Don't get me wrong, I'm committed to my husband, job, and whatever else, but I'm talking about weight loss and fitness.

I've always wanted to commit to a workout program but I always gotten a few days into it and decided I had better things to do, or I was just never meant to be fit. That I shouldn't be that sore, and needed a few rest days.

Excuses I made to make myself feel better about being a quitter.

In the weight loss department I would lose 20 pounds without much trouble, then I would hit a plateau, and then decide I liked binging on junk food at night better than being healthy.

So, back in July I decided to do something a little different. I did a challenge, and committed to doing 30 minutes of exercise a day for the whole month. I actually did it! I was pretty proud of myself. Then, during the month of August, we had a fitness challenge at work. I completed that one too (and won 285$ in the process). In September I just kept going with it. I sort of told myself that I wanted to get to 90 straight days because they say that's how long it takes to form a habit. I did it! I've even kept on going too! As of today I have done 30 minutes of exercise every single day for 107 days! I'm pretty proud of that number!

As for weight loss, I actually started my journey a year ago now. I fell off the 'wagon' a few times (I hate using that term, it's not a wagon, it's a lifestyle) but I got up, dusted myself off, and somehow persevered. I've never stuck to anything for this long. I began tracking on My Fitness Pal, but wasn't as committed as I should have been. I would skip tracking on weekends or if I had a particularly high calorie meal/day. I would get up to 5 days in a row and then stop for the weekend. Then, one day, I decided to track for a week, no matter what. I did it! I then decided to go for 10 days. Then 14. And the rest his history. My streak as of today is 261 days! I'm always shocked when I see that number, as it keeps climbing. Apparently I didn't think I had it in me!

Last week I mentioned that my P90 program arrived in the mail on Tuesday. I was so excited that I did opened it up and did my first workout that day! What I liked about the program was that it was an 'introduction to fitness', in other words, my sorry butt could probably handle it.

So far, it has! I've had many other programs that I have paid good money for and just decided that I couldn't do it or didn't have time. Including my Piyo workouts that I just got like 4 months ago!

At first I was all like, I think maybe I'll skip the workouts on the days I have hockey. I  only missed one day this past week, because I worked a 12 hour shift and went for a nice 5k walk after. Then, the next day, I did two days worth of workouts.

Even now, I'm still reluctant to even say that I'm committing to doing the whole program for 90 days, but here it is. I'm going to complete P90. I'm going to send in my before and after photos and get myself a free tshirt!

There, I said it. It's on the blog. I have to do it.

I also wrote it in my life planner. That's a big deal!

I'm slowly finding my way in the crazy fitness world. I'm determined. I'm dedicated. I can do this!

Weigh In Wednesday

Now I can move on to weigh in Wednesday with Heather, Ash, and Erin.

This week I am sad to say I gained 0.8 pounds. I'm not really going to beat myself up about this one. It was thanksgiving and I ate food. I had dessert. I did follow my own goals for making it through thanksgiving without going crazy. I worked out a lot, and ended up feeling so so soooo hungry all weekend. I didn't go over my calorie goals though.

This usually happens too, after I have bad a big loss like last weeks. I am not built to lose big amounts every week. I'm more of a slow and steady. I'm optimistic about this coming week. I am going to get a better handle on my hunger, eating more at snacks and less at night.

How did your goals go this week?

    1. P90 is a beachbody workout that is like the famous P90X, but, it's for beginners. It's an introduction to fitness, nothing too extreme. I've been doing it for over a week now, and it's totally doable for beginners :)

  8. Your blogs are so inspiring! Congrats on all the weight you have lost and for your workout dedication. I feel like I have diet and nutrition under control...now I need to hop back on the workout wagon. I'm going to write it in my planner as well since that is the only way anything gets done. Keep it up! :)
