Tragedy

I began writing a long post about how I feel about what has happened on our island recently. We have seen so much loss and hurt. It's not even really believable. Not really anyway. I quickly realized that I cannot put those feelings on my blog. They're too raw, and too fresh.

What I will say is that this Saturday the medivac plane that I make regular flights in went down, with four of my colleagues inside. One of the pilots and the Paramedic on board did not live through the accident. I cannot even believe they're gone, having just worked with both of them just 2 weeks ago. Two amazing men. I am, however, grateful and so thankful my other colleagues did make it out. So grateful for that.

Please, pray for my island. For all of the people here. We are hurting so much. The string of tragedy that began with losing Danielle a month ago has yet to stop. We just keep losing more, and the wounds just go deeper. Don't pray for God to stop killing people. It isn't God. It's just how the world works, and the world is a cold, cruel, hard place. Pray for healing. Pray for strength. That's what we need the most.

Taken on my last flight with Billy, 2 weeks ago.
