My Day in Food {& Weigh in Wednesday}

One day, not long ago, I had the thought that I was rather frustrated about the amount of temptations that there are in my life, and likely everyones life too! I decided it would be interesting to document what goes on for me in the run of a day. So here goes!

8:45 AM: I'm downstairs waiting for Harper to make some noise. I am a little indecisive about what to have for breakfast. I settle for an egg on toast with some cheese, water, and come coffee.

11:00 AM: We're back from our morning walk. I'm getting Harper something to eat before her nap, when I open the cupboard, I see the stupid mini cookies I bought...because they were on sale. Good thinking, Winter. I'm not screwing this up at 11 am. Go die in a hole cookies.

11:15 AM: Harper is down for a nap. I'm having an apple. Not really what I wanted, but I bought them and I usually let them go bad. Not sure why, because they're yummy honeycrisp ones. No, I do know why. I usually opt for a Fibre One bar over an apple. Hands down.

12:30 PM: A yummy Dole Chop Chop Southwest Salad with a bit of white chicken, left over from, well, way too long ago! Very tasty.

2:00 PM: Had a battle of the wills with Harper. Put her back to bed because she really obviously needed it. Or I do. Probably both. Would like to eat ice cream, cookies, or anything I can get my hands on. Settling for coffee and a blueberry bran muffin that is rather old and sort of stale.

4:30 PM: I'm cooking supper. I'm rather hungry while I do so. I wish I was a better cook! Oh well. Chicken stir fry it is. Hopefully Harper will eat something.

5:30 PM: Harper went to my aunts for the evening and Casey has gone golfing. I'm eating alone, watching tv.

Moving on to Weigh in Wednesday with Heather, Ash, and Erin!

Last night I told Casey that I was sure I'd gain this week. He asked why I thought that, and I said it was because I lost over 2 pounds last week, and I just don't do that...ever. I wasn't really joking either, because history has shown that I tend to lost rather slowly, 0.3-1 pound at a time usually.

I'm fine with that. Slow and steady, right? My doctor even said that it's best to lose about 2 pounds a month, because that way you know you're making sustainable changes, not just binge dieting. I know I'm not binge dieting, I'm still eating things that you wouldn't eat if you were on a 'diet'. We still go out for ice cream. We still go out to eat. It's just that I'm making better choices when we do.

Apparently I've had a much better week than I thought, because I got on the scale yesterday morning (I weigh in on tuesdays so I can write this post in time for Wednesday) and I had lost 1.6 pounds since last week!

I'm really rather happy with that, but I know it's going to be short lived (why am I such a downer?!) because we're going on a little family vacation to the city this weekend and we'll be eating at restaurants the whole time basically.

I have some goals for myself on the trip.

1. Keep my water intake up as high as possible. 90-100 oz every day. Hopefully that will counteract some of the damage that'll be done.

2. Make healthier choices when we do eat out. There's always a healthier option. I just have to choose it.

3. Get lots of exercise. I know we'll be chasing a toddler all weekend, which is exhausting to just think about, but I need to do actual exercise while we're gone too. I'm sure the hotel will have a treadmill I could likely make use of. Plus I could go for walks or something while Harper has her afternoon nap.

So, wish me luck! I'm hoping to not have to report a 5 pound gain next wednesday!

Oh, and here's this past weeks #transformationtuesday picture! Almost 4 years and 25 pounds difference!

  6. Ooohh...that makes me want to try on my wedding dress :) We are going on a mini-vacation next week and I am trying not to stress about backsliding. I am hoping to make use of the hotel fitness center and make good choices (and enjoy some splurges). I didn't think about the water...I will need to remember to drink plenty.
