Weigh in Wednesday

The other day, I was working on getting my garden ready to be planted. I was carrying a bag of sheep manure over to it, and I found the bag rather heavy and difficult to hold on to. When I set the bag down at its destination, I saw that there was a weight on the bag, of roughly 33 pounds.

Interesting.

Last week I hit my 30 pound mark. So, a little over a year ago, I was carrying that much weight every day, and before delivering Harper, there was even more!

Wow!

I realize that Harper is almost 15 months old, and that it's taken me that long to lose the weight, but guess what? I think that's great. I have done this in small, sustainable changes to my normal life. Just like the lovely Jasmine over at Fleurty and Fit said in her post last week, she's on her weight loss journey the real way. Real food, no quick fixes. Getting her body moving.

I've lost in 0.4, 0.8, 0.5 chunks, that have added up over time. I'm eating normal amounts of real food, and moving my body. It's all in the numbers. If you have a calorie defect, you'll lose weight. Plain and simple. And to me, losing 0.6 lbs is awesome. I just go right ahead and add it to the pile that has amounted to over 30 pounds!

So I was thinking, just like the Pinterest post I've seen so many times, how much does one pound look like?

I got permission from my lovely friend Sheryl, to show this awesome photo of her.

This amazing woman has lost over 50 pounds!! Can I get a Woo hoo for Sheryl!? She is such a sweet person, an amazing nurse, an excellent walking buddy, and a great friend. <3

So, when you're getting down on yourself because you 'only lost a pound', don't! You're awesome, and you just added to the pile of pounds you don't want to ever see again!

Moving on to Weigh in Wednesday with Heather, Ash, and Erin!

This week I've worked walked and run, and been a super good girl and not eaten after dinner all week except one night I had a handful of teddy grams. Don't ask, I was over tired. I promptly went to bed.

So, I'm proud to report a loss 1 pound this week! I'm super happy with that!

I'm also super glad I weigh in on Tuesdays now, because last night was my cheat night and it was a big birthday party, combined for several people in Casey's family. I felt so gassy and bloated and in a lot of abdominal pain last night. I was glad to get the invite on an evening stroll, so that I didn't feel so bad about eating junk.

How was your week? Are you feeling good about your progress?

  1. Great job, Winter, and WOO HOO for Sheryl!! That is so awesome! I have taken almost 17 months to lose 70 pounds, and it is worth it to lose slower, in my opinion. The slow, sustainable life changes are what it's all about. You have done such a wonderful job and I am so happy for you!! Isn't it amazing to think about that extra weight that we carried around???
