Weigh in Wednesday & The Next 5 Pounds

Ever since I started my weight loss journey (this time), I have been rewarding myself every 5 pounds that I lose. I am the kind of person who can lose the motivation to do something pretty quickly. And the thought of being healthier or less fat is not really enough to keep me motivated, since I have so far to go. It actually makes me kind of depressed to think about.

So, my solution has been to reward myself. Not with food, because I'm not a dog, and that would be counter-productive.

So far I have rewarded myself 4 times.

The first wasn't for me, it was something I wanted for Harper. An Aden+Anais bamboo dream blanket. I love it, it's so soft and warm! Yes, I steal it for myself. I'm excited for the day that Harper appreciates it too.

The next was my Erin Condren life planner. I'm so glad I bought this! It helps me stay on too of everything.

My next reward was a new purse. My old one was like 3 years old and starting to look like it needed to be thrown away. So, I got myself a new one!

Then I got stuck at a plateau for a while. This was between Christmas and our vacation in January.

After our vacation, I did a DietBet, which I lost, but still lost 6.2 lbs. Meaning I was up for another reward. This time I was torn as to what to do, because I wanted a really cute shirt from KikiLa Rue, but the shipping was 20$ to Canada, so I decided to go with one that I had seen at Old Navy, which happened to be on sale!

This time, I knew just want I wanted to do. I discovered (with the help of the people I follow on Instagram) Lush cosmetics. I bought a couple little things a few weeks ago and I've been itching to get my hands on more ever since!

So, now it's time for the weekly Weigh In Wednesday with Heather & Ash!

Drumroll please! I lost 1.2 lbs this week, making a grand total of 25.2 lbs since August!

In that time, I've done good and bad. I've given up on myself more than once and have had to pick myself back up and keep going. It hasn't been easy but nobody said that it would be. I've got a long way to go but that distance is easier to handle when I see how far I've come.

Bring it on!

  1. Wow, great Weigh-In, Winter! Those are really awesome rewards as well. I lost 50 lbs before I realized that rewards systems were important, and now sometimes it's a lot easier to stay determined when I know I have those rewards for the next 50+ lbs! Keep up the good work, girl!

    1. Oooo that sounds nice! I don't like to do clothes because I'm totally not a shopper, and I'm more comfortable in jeans and a tshirt. Maybe once I get more weight off I'll want to :) Thanks for reading!

  10. This is great! Its nice to see a person losing weight at a healthy rate. I feel like a lot of my friends go crazy in order to lose a lot really fast, and it worries me!

    1. Thank you! I can't do binge dieting. I always fail at it. I learned the hard way that slow and steady wins the race, and to trust the process. It doesn't happen over night!

  11. Great job this week! I like your reward system. I'm trying to start something like that for me too, but with non-scale related things. It's definitely a motivator.

    Keep up the great work!

    1. Thank you! I long time ago I wrote down what I wanted to reward myself with, but I kept changing my mind every time. Now I think it's funner to just take the few weeks it takes to lose the 5 lbs and think about what I want.

    1. So far just tracking my food very honestly and trying to get out to hockey 3 times a week has done it for me. It must be frustrating to be stuck! Thanks for reading!
