Weigh in Wednesday - DietBet & a Healthy Superbowl Party
Linking up again with the lovely Heather & Ash for Weigh in Wednesday!
I had dreams of cutting up angel food cake and putting it on skewers with strawberries and having cool whip to dip it in, but the strawberries wouldn't stay on the skewers so they turned into plain strawberry shortcake! And since we ate it in paper cups, it ended up being the perfect small portion!
Instead of following the rules like I usually do, I just used Shake and Bake for the coating, and I got honey garlic sauce for them. It was different than it usually is, I'd say the manufacturer changed it, because it was pretty runny. Either way, they were yummy!
So, I was basically able to eat what I wanted, and be alright. I didn't have a million crackers and dip. I ate a lot of fruit and veggies. I had some healthy chicken bites, but no actual wings (which is amazing for me! I don't even like them that much, but I don't usually get away with eating NONE!). I had a cup of strawberry shortcake. I had a little bit of the scallop dip. And someone brought 2 bite brownies and I had a couple of those (SHAME on me!). All in all, I think I did a pretty decent job of lightening up the snacks for our party.
So, this weeks weigh in results: I'm down 1.8 lbs! Yay! I'll take it! I've tracked just about everything into MyFitnessPal and gone to hockey whenever I can. Now, I just need to focus on getting back to exercising more! I need to find a routine that I can do when I go back to work. Next project!
So last week, I asked about DietBets that people have done, and what their thoughts were on them. I found one that was starting on friday and joined it with Casey! Wish us luck! I don't imagine there's any way I'll lose that much weight in a month, but Casey might.
So far, it's going alright. We spend a lot of time at his parents (they live next door) and this weekend his mom made fried dough for lunch on saturday, and tacos that night for supper. Since it's the start of my DietBet, I've got some willpower, so I sat there and ate a salad while most everyone else had fried dough. Then, when everyone else was having tacos, I had roasted sweet potato, peas, and scallops. I'm not even mad. Haha.

We decided to throw a Super Bowl party, even though I don't actually watch it. Casey does though. So, I got it in my head that I'd try to get a bunch of healthier snack options, so that it wouldn't be quite so diet-damaging.
We had tons of Epicure dips, as per usual. I have a serious addiction to the seasonings, so it's always nice to have a chance to use some, since we don't throw parties too often. I made 2 cold dips (Cheese, Chive, & Bacon, and Ranch), Summer Berry yogurt dip, and Casey experimented with the hot dip mix I had for Hot Artichoke Dip, since we can't buy artichoke hearts on the island, we decided to substitute and use scallops instead! Yum!
Epicure Galore!

We had crackers, veggies, fruit, dips, chicken wings, healthy chicken bites, and strawberry shortcake cups.
I made the Healthy Chicken Bites from this Pinterest Pin.

DeleteDown 1.8-- awesome job lady!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the loss! Those chicken bites look delicious!
ReplyDeleteThanks! They were yummy! I had the leftovers with a salad for lunch the next day :)
DeleteNicely done!! I actually tried making buffalo cauliflower "wings" for our SuperBowl party, but wasn't terribly impressed. They tasted fine, but didn't stay crispy very long at all. Baked chicken ones would have been way better!!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I wondered about those! I really love cauliflower, but no one else does so I went for the chicken.
Delete1.8 pounds is great!!! And that's awesome you were still able to enjoy delicious snacks for the superbowl and still lose. That's the name of the game. All about moderation.
ReplyDeleteThanks! It's what I've been working on this time around! I know I can't totally deprive myself, but I shouldn't go off the deep end either! :) Thanks for reading!
