Weigh In Wednesday

Well, I'm back!

We got back 2 days ago from our vacation. It was really fun, we had a great time! I promise to post all the details. I'm working on it.

I have to say, I ate whatever I wanted while I was gone. I'm not ashamed of it. Part of the reason we went on a cruise in the first place was because we  wanted good (amazing) food. We went to an all inclusive last time we went on vacation and the food was only meh. I love food, and I didn't want anymore meh food. I didn't go nuts and order 10 courses a meal. I even ate salads, and when we were at the buffet, I primarily ate veggie dishes.

My downfall (as usual) was dessert. But, if you've ever been on a cruise, you'll know that portion sizes aren't exactly huge. I ate the same small brownie-like thing for dessert almost every night. Buffet desserts are always hit and miss. I will say, that even though I ate what I wanted, I stopped when I was full for the most part, and didn't go so crazy as to make myself sick. I didn't eat things just for the sake of eating them either, if I didn't like it (specifically some of the buffet things) I didn't eat it. I don't need THAT many empty calories! Haha!

My favourite dessert, the Princess Loveboat Dream!

We bought the unlimited drinks package, and with that we were able to get any kind of soda, mocktail, and smoothie. I am not gonna lie, I had a lot of mocktails!

Favourite drink, the Key West Cooler!

So yesterday I started right back in, tracking everything, eating well, and drinking crazy amounts of water. I even went to bed at a decent hour! I did cut myself a bit of slack and decided to lay off the exercise for a day so I could clean and spend time with Harper. I missed that kid!

I've been dreading getting on the scale since I left for my vacation! That's pretty bad....So, I guess it's the moment of truth! Dun dun dunnnnnnnn!!

Well....I'm exactly the same as when I left. I was not expecting that! I'm sure if I had braved the scale yesterday before I took a day to drink lots of water and eat well, it would have been a different story. Well, I can't say that I'm mad!

Onward and upward!

So, since I'm back at the battle, I'm wondering if there is a DietBet they know of or are part of that is starting soon? Casey even said he'd do it, because he's confident he'll get some money out of it. Have you ever done one before? Where you successful? Was it worth it? Did you find it motivating? I wanna know all your opinions!

  1. OMG, staying at the same weight after going on a cruise vacation is a HUGE accomplishment. Look at you, eating good portion sizes and not over-doing it!! You are rocking this. Keep up the good work! --Kelly @ In It To Lose It

  2. That's awesome that you didn't gain anything! Maybe it's because you were so active while you were out and about? OR, perhaps you've just developed solid skills for choosing the right things? :)

I did a Dietbet. I did find it motivating, though I find it kind of unrealistic. You need to be very restrictive and even if you do win, you'll win maybe double what you paid (put in $25, might win $50 back.) For example, someone who is 165 needs to lose 6.6 pounds in a month. Even when I was heavier, that was almost unattainable. It suggested I eat 1200 calories a day to meet that goal, which I don't think teaches you healthy habits. Also, some people do juice diets, or sweat suits, or fasting to get to their goal on time. That's not something I would do, but that's who else is doing the Dietbet with you. That was my experience with it. Not that it didn't keep me motivated, I still lost almost 5 pounds, but I was miserable doing it and felt very defeated when it was coming off earlier (and let's be real, 5 pounds in 4 weeks is awesome!).

(Sorry for the long winded comment! Can't wait to hear about your trip!)

    1. We weren't hugely active, other than all the walking that is included in a cruise :)

As for the dietbet, I think it might be the only way to get Casey to lose a little weight...so I'm thinking of just doing it for the sake of that! :P

  7. I love cruises! I have only ever been on Carnival and Holland America. I recommend both. WTG on staying the same. I always come back with a few extra pounds. Dietbets are motivating, I'm in a few right now. I say give it a try.

  10. What an awesome accomplishment, people tend to gain 5-7 pounds on a cruise so it's like you lost that many! Way to go! There are a ton of diet bets out there, I always just find one full of people so I have the chance to win more money haha!
