Ugh...

Clearly I haven't had a good week. I am avoiding the scale like it's the plague. I went on a reading binge on the weekend and then finished the weekend off with a cookie exchange, which resulted in me having 6 dozen PLUS sweets in my house, which did not bode well for me and my waist line. The ONLY thing that has been my absolute salvation in this, is that out of all the things I brought home, MOST of it I don't have trouble either walking away from or just having one, but heaven help me with these frigging peanut butter balls. I'm praying to the fat gods that Casey will have eaten them last night, so that when I go looking for them, they won't be there. He got rid of the leftovers of what I made (chocolate covered cookie dough and Oreo cheesecake truffles) last night, thank goodness. I, however, got rid of the cherries that were covered in some kind of coconut goodness. *Drool*

My biggest weakness is obviously sweets. Chocolate ones. The other cookies are staring at me, but I can ignore their glares and just have one for dessert. I'm such a stinking glutton.

On top of that, I missed hockey on thursday and sunday. I got there monday, but I missed badminton because Harper was in a mood and needed to go to bed early. I really hope I can get to Zumba tonight.

I did do a 30 minute TurboFire workout yesterday. At least I can say that I did get some kind of activity in.

On a more positive note, I ordered myself a birthday present. It's a Polar FT4 heart rate monitor watch. I got it for 50$ on Cyber Monday. It'll be a bit before I get it though. I need to go to Calais to pick it up, along with everything else I ordered.

I'm very excited about that! I am really interested to know how many calories I actually burn when I work out. I really don't trust the MyFitnessPal app when it says I burned 700 calories at hockey. I mean, it's a lot of work, but I just can't see it being THAT much. Same with Zumba.

Anyway, overall, not a good week for me. It's probably not going to get better this week. I have a company christmas party on the 8th, and my birthday on the 10th. I am foreseeing a lot of calories in my near future. *sigh*

  1. For your birthday maybe go with the pineapple angel food cake....just the angel food cake mix and a can of crushed pineapple. Add a blob of whipped cream. That's what I did and loved it!

Love my Polar FT4. What color did you get?

  4. Chocolate deliciousness is my weakness too. I hear you, girl! I need to get one of these Polars. I have a Garmin (and LOVE it), but it doesn't calculate my calories if I'm on the treadmill or if I'm doing other activities. I always get cash from one person for Christmas. Maybe I'll treat myself! That is a great deal -- $50!

  5. Hello local blogger! Iive in Moncton, NB! I have now followed your blog AND instagram! (No I am not a stalker, I'm just super excited I found someone in not only Canada, but my home Province!!!)

Christmas is such a hard time to stay on track, eating wise. I joined a Dietbet over Christmas to try and get focused, but all the good things happen now!? I'm saying no gain over Christmas is a positive. :)

    2. Hey! Followed you back! Thanks for stopping in! I love Moncton! My husband went to Crandall so we spent lots of time there while we were both in University. I see we're also on the same healthy life journey! Can't wait to read your blog!

    3. I went to Crandall!!! I completed my Bachelor of Education there and graduated in 2008. What a small world!!!!

  6. You can just send all those yummy things you mentioned this way... OK really I'm glad they aren't at my house cause there is no way I could control myself. My grandmother just sent me some coconut oatmeal cookies and I've left them hidden in the bag they came in so that I don't touch them until Sunday on my free day!

Yay! for the HRM! I love mine cause you're right, MFP is way off half the time.

    1. See, I don't have a problem AT ALL if there is no chocolate involved. But if there is, watch out! Cause I'll eat the whole thing!

I knew it about the MFP! Grrr!

  7. What are peanut butter balls? And the oreo cheesecake truffles?! YUM! Recipe, please??
I'm a sucker for sweets and that's okay! Don't beat yourself up! We all have our off weeks.
Such a good deal for that heart rate monitor! I wish I would have thought to get one through the sales! I want one so bad!

    1. I don't have a recipe for Peanut Butter Balls...My step mother made them, but I have made them before. I just wing it though. It's just peanut butter and icing sugar (add rice krispies if you want, it makes them awesome) mixed until you can easily form them into balls, then you put them in the freezer for like an hour, melt some chocolate (I prefer milk chocolate) and then dip them in the chocolate using whatever means necessary (toothpick, tongs, fork, whatever).

The Oreo Truffles are from this site http://www.cookingclassy.com/2012/12/oreo-truffles-two-ways/

Don't worry about the heart rate monitor, I would bet my left shoe that you could score one on sale on boxing day!

  8. Great deal on the Polar!
I have a weakness for all holiday sweets so this time of year is rough. I usually let myself indulge a little on my birthday so I make cupcakes, bring them to work, and keep one for myself. :)
    Thanks for linking up!

    1. I make cupcakes as a small business on the side, so I definitely don't want to make my own birthday cupcakes! lol I never want to eat my own cupcakes. They're good, but I just don't have the interest to eat them...it's weird. I'll be indulging on my birthday, there will be no doubt!

Thanks for stopping by, I love this weekly link up!
