Pillows, Stars, & Gift Tags!
One thing that kinda sucks about living on an island is that if I need some sort of material for a project, I almost always have to wait until I get to the city to get it. Sometimes you can score big at the dollar store, but other times, I really need to get to Walmart or Michaels. Anyway, I got some projects finished up yesterday, finally, because when I was working on one of them I needed stuffing and there wasn't any on this island!
I've been waiting on finishing these pillows for over a month now. I had the pillow itself all sewed up nicely, but like I said, I had no stuffing. When I finally did get stuffing, I didn't get a chance to finish them. Well now I have.
I didn't use any kind of pattern for them, I just figured out how big I wanted the pillow and cut and sewed my fabric accordingly. I actually bought the fabric thinking I was going to make a nice diaper bag for myself, and I just gave up on that idea, as it seemed too complex. Also, my dog ate the pillows we used to have when she was a puppy, so I decided it was time for more.
I will tell you that I used this YouTube tutorial to help me close up the seams on the pillows. Not as difficult as I thought it was gonna be, and part of the reason I was putting this off, because I thought I might need someone to actually show me. I did it with no problems!
Yes, there is a blanket over the centre of the couch because my dog ate the couch there. I've got no idea how to fix it. I think maybe my next project is to make my wall look nice! I have some nice pictures to put in that frame, I just haven't done it yet, but I have a reason that I will not disclose! ;)
Anyway, moving on.
As I said in my 5 on Friday post, I made cinnamon ornaments for my tree and the cute little handprint Santa. I haven't painted the Santa yet, it wasn't dry enough, but I left it in the oven long enough last evening to finish that off. I'll probably paint that today.
I felt like superwoman yesterday! I got a lot accomplished!

Here's one on my tree. I love them! I tied them up with some nice hemp twine and hung them on the tree. I have some left over, so I'm hoping to find a project to use them up, so they don't go to waste.
Finally, I finished up my gift wrapping yesterday too. I didn't actually wrap any of them, I used all bags, to my dismay. I actually love wrapping, but they weren't the kind of gifts you can wrap...so into the gift bags they went.
I found this really cute printable gift tag set on Pinterest, and my lovely mother in law printed them off for me, since my printer took a swim when we had a little flood in our computer room (Thanks Sue!).
I cut them out and punched holes in them, and used my lovely hemp twine, and tied them on. I even added a cinnamon ornament for good measure. I think they look great!
