Weigh In Wednesday

May have admitted it to some, but I still have no desire to tell anyone how much I weigh. I will tell you, that a week and a half ago, due to the motivation from some very lovely ladies, I cleaned up my act. My eating act.

I think I've done a pretty good job at it too.

Wanna know my secret?

I'm eating like a normal human being.

Yep. That's all.

Imagine that.

I'm still a member of Weight Watchers until sometime in September, but I've basically ditched the tracking for now, and it's working for me. When I hit a plateau, I'll go back to tracking.

Here is an example of what I'd eat in the run of a day.

For breakfast: Fibre One with Blueberries. (Today I'm trying something new, some overnight fridge oatmeal stuff, it's ok). I also have a cup of coffee and some water.

If I get hungry between breakfast and lunch, I eat a banana or other piece of fruit.

For lunch: I've been having a salad made with spinach and a butt ton of other veggies. Whatever I want really. I also put some reduced fat shredded cheese and a couple pieces of deli sliced turkey on that bad boy. Oh, and ranch. Yeah I know, that's not really healthy. But I like it. One step at a time.

In between lunch and supper, I'll usually eat some yogurt and another piece of fruit, or some whole grain crackers and hummus.

For supper: Some kind of lean meat, most likely cooked on the BBQ because it's summer, paired with mashed cauliflower and a couple other veggies. Summer is my zucchini season. I LOVE baked zucchini with garlic and parmesan cheese. See what I did there? Replaced my starch with cauliflower! I mash it with garlic, a little butter, and some parmesan cheese. One head of cauliflower will last me like 5 days. I haven't been eating dessert. If I do it's something decent like key lime greek yogurt, or something of the sort.

If I'm hungry again before bed, I have more fruit.

See, not that difficult. And not tasteless either.

I've been giving myself a cheat day. Unless I have a plan to make it otherwise, it's been saturday so far. Last saturday was the Rotary Festival Market, but since we were in the parade, I missed all the good food, so I ended up with a hamburger, a chocolate lollypop, and a square of fudge for lunch. Guess what though? No big deal! I ate fabulously for breakfast and then I had a very healthy supper as well.

On top of making healthier food choices, we've been trying to get out and move more as a family. Lately, we've been doing a bunch of hiking, because we've been Geocaching. It's super fun and anyone can do it. I've also been trying to get the baby and Luna out for a walk whenever it's decent outside, and I've been going to Hoop Class, which I'm totally in love with.

See? Nothing crazy!

No, I can't eat that!

No, zero carbs after 6 PM.

Simply, eat to nourish myself.

Treat myself SOMETIMES too.

If I'm at a birthday party, I'm probably going to have a NORMAL human being sized piece of cake. Not a portion 5x as big as it should be.

I'm still not going to tell you how much I weigh. I'll tell you when I'm ready.

I will, however, tell you that I've lost 5 lbs in the last week and a half!

And the peasants rejoice.

  1. I think it is important to find a balance with eating and 'dieting'. When I try to restrict myself so much it ends up backfiring in a big way.

  3. It's OK not to share your actual weight. Focus on how much you're losing (weight & inches) and how you're changing into a healthier you.
